And so we say goodbye to a very unique judge

I won't have Paula Abdul to kick around any more in my American Idol recaps. Apparently she was never asked to renegotiate her contract. The producers decided to go with the younger, hipper and arguably more talented and hard to pronounce Kara DioGuardi.

I know for sure that 4 judges didn't work last season. There wasn't enough time for them to make comments and I didn't like that I had to wait so long to hear what Simon said. But I'm not sure the producers are making the right choice. Paula has always been viewed as the "nice" and "supportive" judge. Not to mention the fact that I usually got a break in recapping the shows when she started nattering on and on.

What do the rest of you think? Is this an improvement? Will you miss the odd sexual tension between Simon and Paula? Will Paula ever learn that unique needs no other modifier? Will Paula have a nervous breakdown now that she isn't a judge or does this mean we can expect a new season of "Hey, Paula"?

I'm wondering if there isn't some other reason that she isn't coming back given some of the past issues she's had. I think the show won't be the same without her & she certainly is fun.

I will miss trying to guess what kind of drug(s) she is on

I think we will see her battling with that crazy Mary over at SYTYCD.

I would also say, stay tuned for some crazy reprieve, perhaps courtesy of Simon himself...

Good riddance! Thankfully I can remove the Paula-Skip button from my DVR remote. She was purely filler on that show and offered no real insight.

I agree with Nicole and Jordan, I won't miss Paula, but I'm not a fan of Kara either. In fact, I think I might be over the show entirely, if it weren't for Jeremy I would have stopped watching this season.

I think I'm with Amanda. Doesn't really matter what Paula does because I think I'm done =)

I'll miss Paula, it will be strange without her.

I liked her in her own loopy, silly way. And I have no doubt she'll find a way to keep herself in the press!
