Momfessions: Part 1

Being more than 5 months into motherhood, I think it's fair to say that I've settled in. Sure, I still have twitches and twinges of "OMG, I have no idea what I'm doing" but those flashes are getting rarer. In honor of this and the fact that Cameron will be six months in a couple of weeks I thought I would share some of my motherhood confessions:

1. We still swaddle Cameron. Yup, it's my crutch and I just can't let it go. I've gotten so good at swaddling her (with the super swaddle) that she can't break out of it for the entire night. I once attempted to put her down for a nap sans swaddle and it was an unmitigated disaster. It's looking like we really will be swaddling Cameron until she heads off to college. I hope she gets an understanding roommate!

2. Sometimes I feed her at 4 AM, not because she needs it, but because it means she will sleep later in the morning. Enough said.

3. Shhh. Don't tell Cameron but I'm looking forward to my business trip this week. Two whole nights of not jerking awake because I think I hear her. Well, at least I assume I'll be able to internalize the fact that she is 500 miles away. But we'll see. With my luck I'll end up waking up more often not less.

4. I'm getting really, really tired of pumping. I think I might cut all of it out except for an evening pump when Cameron reaches 6 months old. I still have about 150 ounces in the freezer and once that is done, I'm totally done pumping. DH is convinced that my Type A personality will keep me going for a few more months but I'm mentally trying to prepare myself to stop.

I'm sure I have many more "momfessions" to come. How about the rest of you? What confessions do you have?

In spite of J.'s comment that itching doesn't begin til 7 months, how would you like to lie all night wanting to rub your fingers together or scratch your nose? She'll never develop any muscles if you don't let her move around. Love. . .

I still swaddle Madi too. On the air plane people were looking at me like 'what are you doing to that baby!' then a lady walked by with her son and she was like 'oh I swaddled my son until he was 7 months'. I will swaddle her as long as I can to help her sleeeeeeep!! I love breastfeeding, but I can't wait for my huge boobies to go back to normal size (for me anyways). I hope I make it to a year.

My momfession: I turned the baby monitor off. I don't need to hear every little peep. My little guy is a noisey sleeper and every little grunt was waking me up. The nursery is litteraly 5 steps away and I do wake up if he cries.

at this point I'm not even sure what a momfession would be, probably everything I do on a daily basis :P

sure, i don't have kids, but I have a Momfession. Okay, here goes: i think it's funny when kids swear. i know you're not supposed to laugh, but when a child is learning how to talk and they throw in an accidental "fuck", I can't help myself and I want them to do it again and again. I might even encourage it.....

you could start with one arm out of the swaddle, just a thought. Take 2 tylenol pms with you on your trip and you will sleep like a baby..no pun intended. Momfession: I have given cold bottles on more than one occasion right out of the fridge, mostly b/c I've gotten lazy about heating it up and he takes it. Its kind of funny when he stops to take a breath b/c the milk is cold...like we do when we guzzle down a cold drink.
