And then there were two

DH and I took yesterday off from work because his sister is in town to help us with some landscaping work/garden clean up. I managed to negotiate him dropping Cameron off in the morning so I could sleep in. We have these new curtains in our room and roller shades (instead of those crappy white blinds) and the room is pitch black even in the sunniest of mornings. Boy, is it hard to get up when the entire room is shrouded in darkness!

Because we hung out at a neighbor's house the evening before normal chores, like putting together and labeling Cameron's daycare bottles, didn't get done. DH packed Cameron off and whisked her to daycare, only to find that no bottles were in her bag. I had actually thought about that but didn't mention it to DH when he got up. Rolling over and snuggling into my pillow was a much better idea. Plus, he's a pro so he wouldn't forget, right? Obviously wrong....

I have been toying with the idea of phasing out bottles for Cameron. My plan was to eliminate the 11 AM this week and the 3 PM one next week. Guess what? We went cold turkey instead. I took it as a sign from above and didn't bother to zip over with the bottles. Instead her teachers would feed her from a sippy cup and my hope is that eventually we can just phase the 50/50 formula/milk split to 100% milk and then just have sippy cups for snacks and meals.

Cameron will be 12 months next week (I know!) so the timing seemed good. I have a feeling I'll leave the AM/PM bottles for a while longer until she is completely comfortable with all types of finger foods. How about the rest of you? How have you or do you plan to phase out bottles?

When my DS moved up to the toddler room (one year old), it was mandatory for him to be on a sippy cup. So, when we found out he was moving up, we put him in a two week "sippy cup boot camp" and pretty much took away his bottles during the day. He still got his AM and PM (bedtime) ones. Then, at his 15 month appt. the pedi said he should be off bottles completely. I held out for a few weeks b/c we were going to be traveling and then completely went cold turkey and gave him sippy's only. He did great. You'll find that they don't need as many ounces when they're eating lots of solid meals during the day. Good luck!

Yes, we did AM/PM for about a month with Ned, then that was it. For a while we kept bringing up his sippy cup for after bath but they didn't care about their drinks so we stopped doing that quickly.

Just wanted to let you know that I read your post title and immediately thought, "Hmm, Stacey would have told me if she was pregnant, right?" I was very confused for a moment.

Egad! Yes, you would have been amongst the first to know if I was preggers. But that's not happening anytime (if ever) soon...

I thought the same thing about you being pregnant! Too funny.

Yeah, we don't have any concrete plans about phasing in milk and phasing out bottles, but Stacey - I have to say, your plan sounds great! AM/PM bottles and sippies at meal and snack times.

We've been putting some formula into sippy cups, but he doesn't have much of an interest. He will down a whole cup of water if we let him. So maybe he’ll just love regular milk… hoping!

It took us a while to find the "right" sippy for him - it's the Nuby straw type.

Good luck!

We actually never used bottles since Natalie breastfed so we didn't have any issues with them :)
