I am in the process of trying to find a babysitter for a couple of hours a week. It wouldn't be anything regular, more of an ad hoc arrangement. I posted to my moms' group and received a couple of offers from other moms to babysit Cameron. These moms have children of their own (just one in each case) and would come over with that child to watch Cameron. Has anyone every done this arrangement before? I was thinking of a more traditional babysitting arrangement but obviously these moms are qualified. Please weigh in with your thoughts on my situation. Should I give it a try or instead focus my search on a high school or college student? What has your experience been?

I'd say to do both. You can never go wrong with MORE babysitting options.
Oh yeah, nope never tried it. First-time singleton moms are so scared of taking care of twins plus one! HA HA! We do a lot of babysitting trades within our moms group, but it's always someone coming to our house after my kids go to bed. I've watched a lot of kids at our house in addition to watching our kids and it's not that much extra work.
All of this is off my blog bc I don't post pics of other people's kids without permission.
I think you should do a "trade". One night she babysits for Cameron with her baby another night you do the same so she can go out. Then it is free. But you should definitely also find a local person (paid) since that is often more reliable and easier to finagle.
I have heard folks have had good luck with sittercity.com
lots of moms seem to find success with sittercity.com. another idea is to go to the women's center at a local college (if there is one nearby) and see if there are any postings there or post something yourself and see what kind of response you get. It might be nice to have someone nearby for a few years that you trust and may be looking for some extra money.
Call the local high school church school (whatever because you are down south) and find out if there are any 9th graders interested in babysitting. That's because they are usually more interested in little kids than boys. The other source is the local Catholic Church. Also get your sister to contact the Charlotte Mother of Twins group for info... use your brain. Mom
